This here Fendi Peekaboo ISeeU Small bag, you see it? People, they talkin’ ’bout whether this bag, this Fendi, is the real deal or not. They call it “Daning”, I think. Sounds like some fancy word to me. And “quote”? What’s that mean? Like the price tag? Anyways, this bag, it’s got folks all riled up. Some sayin’ it’s a copy, some sayin’ it ain’t.
I seen a lot of bags in my time, you know? Not these fancy ones, though. We had those cloth sacks, good for carryin’ taters and such. But this Fendi thing, it’s somethin’ else. It called “Peekaboo”. Like that game you play with the little ones, peek-a-boo! I guess it’s ’cause it opens up, shows you what’s inside. Like a surprise, you know? And this one, it’s the “small” one. They got bigger ones, too, I reckon.
They say this Fendi, it’s from some place called Italy. That’s far, far away. They started makin’ these things, these Fendi things, way back in 1925. That’s a long time ago! This Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande, they was the ones who started it. They was making fur stuff, fancy clothes, and these bags, too. Leather, they call it. Soft, I suppose, not like the cowhide we used to have. They even make shoes, and perfume stuff and them glasses people wear and watches, these Fendi people are into everything. They put the Fendi name on everything, and that makes it cost a whole lot more, I guess.
Now, this Peekaboo ISeeU, they started makin’ it in 2008. That ain’t too long ago. This Silvia Venturini-Fendi, she’s the one who thought it up. She’s in charge of all the fancy stuff, the extras, you know? Like this bag. She made it so you can push down the front part, and it shows you the inside. Different colors, sometimes, or patterns. Like a little secret, it is. This one I seen was beige on the outside. A kinda light brown, you know? And pink and brown inside. Soft leather, they said. Nappa, they call it. Sounds fancy, don’t it?
- This Fendi bag, it’s expensive. Real expensive.
- They say it’s ’cause of the “quality” and the “craftsmanship.”
- That means it’s made good, I reckon. Real good.
- And it takes a lot of work, makin’ these things.
Some folks, they buyin’ different sizes. This small one, and another one they call “petite.” Even smaller, I guess. Like for a special night out, not for every day. Not for carryin’ your groceries, that’s for sure! Some of these bags are green, they say. Made of calfskin. That’s baby cow, you know. And they do something to it, make it fancy. Interlacing, they call it. Sounds complicated. And the inside, it’s just plain. No lining, they say. Just the leather.
I heard some folks sayin’ this Daning Peekaboo ISeeU Small, it might be a “fantasy bag.” Don’t know what that means. Maybe it means it ain’t real? But they still like it, even if it ain’t real. They say it’s made good, even if it’s a copy. Strong, you know? Like it’ll last a long time. This bag comes in different sizes, you know? Medium, large, all kinds. And they use all sorts of fancy stuff to make ’em. Exotic skins, they call it. Like snake, maybe? And the best calf leather, like I said. Baby cow skin. It’s a big deal, I guess, using that baby cow leather. That’s why these are so much money, it is the best of the best you know.
They got a new one, this Fendi Peekaboo ISeeU Petite. It’s small, but they say it’s got a lot of style. Whatever that means. It’s like the bigger one, just smaller. Like a baby version of the big one. And they got another one, they call it East-West. Smaller than the regular one, I guess. And another one, Pochette. That’s a mini, they say. You can hold it in your hand, like a clutch. Fancy word, that. They sure got a lot of these, don’t they?
Now, whether this Daning Peekaboo ISeeU Small is a real Fendi or not, I don’t know. But it sure is somethin’, ain’t it? Got everybody talkin’. And that’s somethin’, I reckon. These Fendi bags, they are a mystery to me. But people sure do love them. Real or not, they love ’em. That’s all that matters, I suppose. They just love them Fendi bags.
