Alright, so I finally decided to give this whole Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG thing a try. I saw this bag, and it just looked so neat, like a little box or somethin’. Figured I could maybe do somethin’ similar myself.
First, I looked up everything I could find about this bag. They call it the “JUNE BOX” and it’s made by this fancy designer, Yves Saint Laurent. He was a big deal, apparently, made all kinds of clothes and bags. This one, though, it’s special. They say it’s a “remake,” like takin’ somethin’ old and makin’ it new. Just like that time I patched up my old winter coat.
Then, I went online and started lookin’ at pictures. Lots of ’em. This bag, it’s got this metal thing on the front, a logo, they call it. “YSL”. And it’s all covered in these stitched squares, like a quilt. They call it “diamond-quilted overstitching.”

- Studied the shape.
- Figured out the size.
Now, they make this bag in all sorts of materials. Leather, somethin’ that looks like snakeskin, even calfskin. I decided to use some old leather I had lying around. It wasn’t perfect, but it had character, you know?
Next, I started cuttin’ the leather. Measured it out real careful, like Ma used to do when she was makin’ a new dress. Cut out all the pieces for the sides, the top, the bottom. It was a bit fiddly, gettin’ all those angles right, but I managed.
Sewin’ it up
Then came the sewin’. I don’t have one of those fancy sewin’ machines, so I did it all by hand. Took a while, but it was kinda peaceful, just stitchin’ away. I even tried to copy that diamond pattern they got on the real bag. It ain’t perfect, but it’s somethin’.
I found an old metal clasp in my junk drawer. It wasn’t exactly like the one on the YSL bag, but it worked. Sewed that onto the front flap. Added a strap made from a strip of the same leather.
Finally, after days of workin’ on it, it was done! It don’t look exactly like the real YSL JUNE BOX BAG, but it’s got its own charm. It’s sturdy, it holds my stuff, and I made it myself. That’s gotta count for somethin’, right? It’s not perfect like the one I saw online, not all neat and shiny, but it has the same kind of style. That is all.
