Okay, so today, I got this wild hair to make my own version of one of those fancy Yves Saint Laurent bags. You know, the JUNE BOX BAG? It’s one of those classic styles, they say. Always in fashion, and all that jazz.
First things first, I needed to see what I was up against. So, I looked it up online, browsed through a few of those fancy online stores where they sell the real deal. These bags, they come in all sorts of materials. Leather, some kind of snakeskin-looking stuff, even something called calfskin. Sounds fancy, right? And they all have that big YSL logo, right on the front.
Now, I didn’t have any of those fancy materials lying around, so I had to get creative. I found some sturdy leather, not the calfskin kind, but it’ll do just fine. I rummaged through my old boxes and found some metal pieces that I could use for the clasp and the chain. It was like a treasure hunt!
Then came the hard part. I had to figure out the shape. It’s called a box bag, so you’d think it’d be easy, but getting those corners just right, that took some doing. I drew up a pattern on some old newspapers, cut out the leather pieces, and started stitching. My fingers got a little sore, not gonna lie, but I kept at it.
- Draw the pattern.
- Cut the leather.
- Sew everything together.
I had to make the YSL logo, too. I found a thin piece of metal and carefully bent it into shape. It’s not perfect, but it’s got that same look.
Putting it all together, that was a challenge. I used some strong glue, some special thread, and a whole lot of patience. It took a few tries, but finally, I got it all to stick together.
The Final Result
And you know what? It actually turned out pretty good! It’s got that same boxy shape, that classic look. It’s not an exact replica, of course, but it’s got the spirit of the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. I even added a little pocket inside, for my phone and keys.
It was a fun little project. Took me a while, but I learned a lot. Maybe I’ll try making another one sometime, maybe with a different material. Who knows! Maybe this is my new calling, making fancy bags. Ha! Just kidding… unless…?
