Alright, let’s talk about my latest project. I’ve been itching to remake a YSL College bag, the one that’s all the rage. You know, those bags are ridiculously expensive, like, more than my rent! So, I thought, why not try to make one myself? I mean, how hard could it be, right?
First, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of the bag online. I scoured every fashion blog, every Instagram post, trying to get a feel for the details. Next, I started looking for materials. Now, this was a challenge. I didn’t want to use any old leather; it had to be just right. I hit up a bunch of local shops, but nothing really clicked. So, I ended up ordering some samples online. It took a few tries, but I finally found a leather that felt good, looked good, and didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Then came the hardware. You know, the chain, the logo, all those little bits and pieces that make the bag pop. That was another wild goose chase. I tried a few places in town, but no luck. Eventually, I found a supplier online who had everything I needed. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, it was still way cheaper than buying a real YSL.
Once I had all the materials, it was time to get to work. I dusted off my old sewing machine and got down to business. I started by making a pattern, using some old cardboard and a lot of guesswork. Then, I cut the leather, sewed the pieces together, and slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape.
There were definitely some hiccups along the way. I messed up a few times, had to redo some parts, and even shed a few tears of frustration. But I kept at it, and after many late nights and a whole lot of coffee, I finally finished it.
And you know what? It turned out pretty darn good! Sure, it’s not perfect. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and the logo isn’t exactly straight. But it’s my YSL College bag, made with my own two hands. And that’s something, isn’t it?
