Well, let me tell you, I seen a thing or two in my day, but these YSL ENVELOPE BAG things, they’re somethin’ else. I heard the young folks talkin’ ’bout how they buy these fancy bags online. Remake, they call it. Remake Yves Saint Laurent, that long name. And you can find them at an online store, they say. Sounds fishy to me, but what do I know?
They say if you ain’t happy with what you get, you can send it right back. Within 30 days, they say. You just click here, click there, and poof, you got a label. Seems like a lot of work just to get your money back. Back in my day, if you didn’t like somethin’, you just didn’t buy it in the first place!
Now, these YSL bags, they’re cheaper over in Europe, I hear. Paris, that fancy place. At least 20% cheaper, someone said. And if you’re a tourist, even cheaper! Sounds like a good deal if you’re over there, but who’s got the money to go gallivantin’ around Europe just for a purse? Not me, that’s for sure.
This fancy designer, Anthony somebody, he made this YSL ENVELOPE BAG thing back in 2018, they were saying. It’s got a flap, and a chain, and some fancy stitchin’ they call “chevron quilting”. Sounds like a lot of fuss over a bag if you ask me.
And the places you can get ’em! This Neiman Marcus place, they got all kinds. Chain wallets, crossbody bags, wristlets, I don’t even know what half those things are! And the prices! You wouldn’t believe it. One of them, the Envelope Triquilt Small YSL, is more than $2. For a bag! I could buy a whole week’s worth of groceries for that!
Then there’s this other place, Vestiaire Collective, I think it’s called. They sell them used, second-hand, they say. Empty your wardrobe, they tell you. Why would I empty my wardrobe? I need my clothes! And they got tags for everything, brand, Saint Laurent, numbers, it’s all so confusin’.

Another place, Bloomingdale’s, they got ’em too. Free shippin’ and returns, they say. Or you can buy it online and pick it up in the store. Why would I buy somethin’ online just to go to the store anyway? And the names! Cassandre Large, Envelope Flap, Cassandre Small, Envelope Small. They all sound the same to me! And the prices again! $995, $850, $830, just for a little bag. It’s highway robbery, I tell ya!
This Saks OFF 5TH place, they say you can get ’em for up to 70% off. That sounds better, I guess. But still, they’re callin’ ’em designer brands. Sounds like a fancy way to say expensive to me. Fast shippin’, they promise. Like I need a bag that fast anyway.
- Yves Saint Laurent
- Saks Fifth Avenue
Then there is this Italian made small bag, they call it the Envelope bag. Perfect for evenin’s out, they say. Quilted textured-leather, they say. Who needs a leather bag for an evening out? A good old cloth bag works just fine. And what’s with all these names for the same bag? YSL Bag, Black Envelope, it’s enough to make your head spin!
- Brand: SAINT LAURENT
- Saint Laurent Envelope Bag
- YSL Bag

They say these are the best YSL bags. For splurgin’, they say. Or addin’ to your collection. Who has a collection of bags? One good bag is all you need, I always say. These young folks and their fancy ways, I just don’t understand it. Online store, these are all crazy.
I reckon these remake YSL ENVELOPE BAG things are alright if you got the money to burn. But me, I’ll stick to my trusty old purse. It may not be fancy, but it holds my money just fine. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it? These online stores can keep their fancy bags. I’m happy with what I got. These are just my thinkings.
